Let’s go to the movies! (3/338)

Reason 3/338, of Why I Love Winnipeg!

A Winnipeg winter is typically a long and challenging season that often leads to often serious cases of ‘stir crazy’.  Trying to find activities that take you out of the home but keep you out of the elements grows tired.  Especially after 5 months of permafrost.

So I’m always excited when the same old same old shakes it up a little bit.

This weekend and next, Silver City Polo Park transforms into a time machine and takes us back!

Front Row Centre Events presents the Great Digital Film Festival. Presenting classic and popular films shown in a digital format on the big screen.

The Great Digital Film Festival 2012 will take place February 3 – 9, 2012.

Some of the ‘oldies’ (let’s call them retro) films being shown are:

Stand by Me

Lost Boys

Back to the Future, II & III! (There is so much greatness in this list already, I can barely.stand.it.)

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

And so many, many more.

The pricing is decent, $5.99/ticket/show and gets progressively less expensive the more shows you see.

Although our winter has been mild, I can’t WAIT to go see some of these bad boys up on the big screen in all their cheesy glory.

Take the family, make it a date night or head out solo (I won’t judge you).  Whatever you do, and however you do it, just make sure to enjoy it.

Maybe I’ll meet you there.  Popcorn, anyone?

Reason #3 of why I love Winnipeg.  We do it retro.
